KCSO: Shooting at Stallion Springs home leaves woman dead, man in critical condition

STALLION SPRINGS, Calif. — A woman is dead and a man in critical condition after a shooting at a home in Stallion Springs.

Stallion Springs police say on Wednesday, May 8 around 4:00 p.m., they received information regarding a shooting in the 28200 block of Preakness Drive.

A Stallion Springs police officer and a Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputy both responded to the home and located a man and woman shot inside.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to Kern Medical where he is currently in critical condition, KCSO said.

Stallion Springs PD requested the Kern County Sheriff’s Office take over the investigation, in which homicide detectives arrived to the home.

The motive and circumstances are still under investigation, according to KCSO, but they say there is no immediate or continued threat to the community.
