BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — KCSO says that crews have recovered an unidentified male body from the Kern River, about half a mile downriver from Keysville.

Officials say the body was initially discovered by someone around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The identity of the body is currently pending confirmation and notification of next of kin by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Coroner.

Officials have also been searching for an 11-year-old girl and several others missing in Kern River.

Statistics provided by KCSO show that 96 people have died in the Kern River within Kern County. Of those, 39 are from out of town and 52 are local.
