KCSO working to shut down illegal casinos

The Kern County Sheriffs Office has been working since 2018 to shut down illegal gambling casinos.

KCSO said from January of 2018 to March of 2019, the department has shut down 103 facilities.

According to Sergeant Ryan Dunbier, the problems started with internet casinos where people would come to access internet. The facilities then turned into gambling casinos where people would come and play fish machines to win money. Now, because KCSO has worked to shut down the casinos, the illegal businesses have transitioned to tablets and phones. The operators give out smaller devices for people to illegally gamble on, which makes them harder to shut down.
