BAKERSFIELD, CA. — Kern Dance Alliance received a grant from Valley Strong Credit Union to offer free online dance classes to the community.
During this time, local dance studios are struggling to get the word out that they are still open for business through online platforms.
“I just new that this was going to be the new normal and we had to quickly come up with a game plan while still running the business and its been challenging," said Shelby Walls, Dance Nation owner.
Local dance teachers will be teaching free online classes funded by KDA through Facebook and Instagram live.
“We are paying local dance teachers, many who are out of work, to teach online classes for the community to enjoy," said Andrea Hansen, KDA President.
The nonprofit is hosting dance classes for different skill levels and ages.
“We know dance can help to transform a life and we’re hoping during quarantine dance can continue to help our community even if were not in a studio. Dance can continue to keep us together through our devices," said Hansen.
