BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — September recognizes National Suicide Prevention Month and Recovery Month, and Kern Behavioral Health and Recovery Services is kicking off its month-long celebration September 1 by lighting the County Administrative Building purple and teal.
The lighting took place around 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
"September is a chance for our community to come together, spread awareness about suicide prevention and celebrate the gains made by those in recovery. It is also a chance to spark an open dialogue to talk openly about the stigma surrounding these issues."
KernBHRS will host several events and activities throughout September to celebrate suicide prevention and recovery and bring awareness to both causes.
