The Kern County Board of Education has named Dr. Mary Barlow the new county superintendent of schools.

The current superintendent, Dr. Christine Lizardi Frazier, will have her last day in office on January 31. 2017.

Barlow will be sworn into office in January and complete the remainder of Frazier’s term, which ends in 2018.

Barlow joined the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office in 2009 as the Deputy Administrative Officer for the Fiscal Crisis Management Assistance Team (FCMAT).
