Kern County Board of Supervisors to discuss speed limit changes throughout the county

KERN COUNTY, Calif. — On Tuesday, the Kern County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to discuss proposed speed limit changes throughout the county with some streets seeing a 10 miles per hour speed increase.

Kern County Public Works said after it recently performed a number of speed studies on different streets that have speed limits set to expire, it's recommending the following speed limit changes:

1. Proposed change of speed limit to 40 miles per hour on Panama Road (Taft Highway) between State Highway 99 and Marvin Street, a distance of 500 feet, Bakersfield.

2. Proposed change of speed limit from 40 miles per hour to 50 miles per hour on Brundage Lane between Edison Highway and Oswell Street, a distance of 15,378 feet, Bakersfield.

3. Proposed change of speed limit from 40 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour on Edison Highway between Edison Road and Malaga Road, a distance of 5,553 feet, Bakersfield.

4. Proposed change of speed limit to 45 miles per hour on Meacham Road between Jewetta Avenue and Samantha Street, a distance of 4,015 feet, Rosedale area.

5. Proposed change of speed limit from 35 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour on Morning Drive between Niles Street and Willis Avenue, a distance of 1,314 feet, Bakersfield.

6. Proposed change of speed limit from 45 miles per hour to 50 miles per hour on North Lincoln Street between Ash Street and Pierce Street, a distance of 6,950 feet, Taft.
