Kern County Farm Bureau is proud to announce our first annual “Farm Worker Breast Cancer Screening”. A shocking 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. As Kern County promotes healthy lifestyles through our abundance of agriculture, there are still steps we can take to help the community regarding preventative treatments.
Early detection has a 98.5% survival rate. On Friday, November 11, school’s will be closed; We hope many farm workers will take advantage of the free babysitting we will have on-site of the event. This event is to help those farm workers who do not have health insurance to cover a routine mammogram.
Each appointment should take roughly 15 minutes. Please help KCFB spread the word for our FREE “Farm Worker Breast Cancer Screening” for women over 40 years. This is an opportunity to give back to our community, conveniently positioning the screening event in Shafter where many farm workers live in the surrounding areas.
