UPDATE: Kern County Fire officials say the fire covered 35 acres.

Officials believe it was caused by a car that caught fire.

The Kern County Fire Department is battling a blaze east of Bakersfield on Friday morning. 

According to KCFD officials, the blaze is covering about 100 acres in the area of Comanche and Breckenridge Road.

The blaze was first reported around 5 a.m.
