The Kern County Fire Department battling a fire near Highway 178 and Comanche Drive.

The fire has burned about 80 acres and officials believe the fire after 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

KCFD says firefighters are making good progress and containment numbers are unknown at this time.

Officials tell 23ABC traffic on the 178 is not affected.
