BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Fire Department will work through the night to fully contain a fire that sparked up east of Bakersfield Thursday.
According to KCFD, they responded to the area of Clear Creek Road and Hart Flat Road., east of Bakersfield and found a vegetation fire that was approximately three acres in size and threatening multiple structures. Firefighters are calling the blaze the "Flat Fire."
Around 3 p.m. Thursday, officials reported crews had stopped forward progress and the fire was 35 acres with 5% containment.
Fire crews were able to save approximately 10 structures.
Around 4:30 p.m. Friday, crews said the fire was approximately 40 acres and was 70% contained.
