The Kern County Fire Department is crediting a quick response for saving an apartment complex Saturday morning.
Officials said just after 4:30 a.m. Saturday KCFD received a call for fire and smoke coming from a 900 square foot one-bedroom single-family apartment house in the 2000 block of Oregon St. near Niles St. and Mount Vernon Avenue.
The fire crew encountered a well established attic fire.
Fire crews deployed hose lines to extinguish the fire and with coordinated work from KCFD Truck 41 the fire did not extend to adjacent apartments.
The fire was controlled in approximately seven minutes. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
An arson investigator was called out to determine cause.
