BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — Monday was Day One for Kern County Fire Department recruits as they start a 16-week academy.
Recruits will be pushed mentally, physically and emotionally as they work to become firefighters.
There are 30 new recruits including one female.
The new round of future firefighters will be trained in firefighting strategies and tactics, rope rescue, and more.
