BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Tuesday, the Kern County Fire Department responded to a fire in the 2200 block of Pacific Street. Upon arrival, they found the main house, as well as a home in the back, on fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but the building suffered major damage.

When crews inspected the home, they found a dog in one of the closets. Firefighters used oxygen from a specially designed K-9 mask to revive the dog.

In addition, crews also rescued two turtles from the home. Unfortunately, other pets were lost in the fire.
