BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Fire Department said crews were able to stop forward progress on a fire burning north of Bakersfield.
According to KCFD, they responded to the area of Weller Rd. and Justin Way north of Bakersfield for a vegetation fire around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The blaze was named the 'Grade Fire' after officials determined it was burning north of China Grade loop on Chevron owned oilfield properties.

Fire crews battled the flames from the ground and from that air. It took nearly an hour before being able to stop forward progress around 6:30 p.m.
At last check, KCFD said 98-acres were burned. The fire is now fully contained. No information have been released about what may have caused the fire.
