Kern County saw a decrease of 6.5 percent in its GDP, bringing the total GDP to $35.8 billion from $38.3 billion in 2014.
Kern County is ranked 76 in the nation for current GDP and ninth in the state of California. The county was ranked seventh in 2014.
Bakersfield surpassed the average national growth percentage in six categories:
- Arts, entertainment, recreation, accommodation and food services
- Educational services, health care and social assistance
- Nondurable-goods manufacturing
- Natural resources and mining
