Law enforcement from across Kern County will gather this month for a memorial to pay tribute to officers killed in the line of duty.
The memorial will be held on Thursday, May 17 at noon at the Kern County Peace Officer's Memorial at 1415 Truxtun Avenue.
The ceremony will feature a 21-gun salute, honor guard, bagpipes, buglers and a flyover by CHP aircraft. CHP Captain Scot Loetscher, KCSO Sheriff Donny Youngblood and BPD Chief Lyle Martin will be among those in attendance, as will the families and friends of fallen officers.
The event is open to the public.
