On 03/04/2017 at approximately 1135 hrs. Kern County Ranger Marine Enforcement Officers received a call that a large toy raft with one person onboard had been blown off of the Auxiliary beach camping area in high winds.
The reporting party also advised a second person on a small inner tube left the shore in an attempt to help the first person and was also swept away in the high winds. Neither one of the subjects was wearing a life jacket and the water temperature at the time was 46 degrees.
Marine Enforcement Officers responded to the scene from the French Gulch area in a Kern County Ranger patrol vessel with a response time of approximately 4 minutes. Upon arriving at the scene the officers found the subjects adrift just south of the Old Isabella launch site.
Both subjects were uninjured and taken aboard the patrol vessel. The 15 year old and 20 year old brothers were reunited with their family members on the shoreline without incident.
