The Kern County Sheriff's Office says they are investigating human remains that were found in South Bakersfield Friday evening.
KCSO says just after 6:15 p.m. Friday evening they were dispatched to a drainage sump near Mahoney Drive and Southgate Drive. They say a person discovered what appeared to be human remains. Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed the remains found were human.
Homicide detectives were called in and have now taken over the investigation.
