Kern County Sheriff's detectives investigating homicide in Lamont; body found in orchard

UPDATE (June 6, 32017 12:56 p.m.): The cause and manner of death for Alvaro Rodriguez has been released the the Coroner's Office. The cause of death is blunt force head trauma and strangulation and the manner of death is homicide.

UPDATE (Nov. 21, 2016): The man found dead in am almond orchard west of Lamont has been identified as 75-year-old Alvaro Velasquez Rodriguez of Lamont. The cause and manor or death are pending. The death is still under investigation.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, detectives are on the scene of a body found in an orchard.

The body was discovered by farm workers near the intersection of DiGiorgio Road and South Fairfax, west of Lamont. Due to obvious signs of trauma, KCSO was called to the scene.

According to KCSO, they believe the body found is a victim of a homicide. They don't believe the body has been there long and has been identified as an adult victim.
