The Kern County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was called out to northwest Bakersfield for reports of a suspicious device Wednesday night.
KCSO responded around 5:40 p.m. for the possible device described as a PVC pipe with black tape and possible wire sticking out that was found along the side of the road.
The bomb squad responded to Wegis Avenue and Barton Lane and detonated the device around 7:45 p.m.
KCSO said they don't know how it got there.
No injuries were reported.
