Kern County Sheriff's Office Gang Unit arrests man with felony warrant, recovers firearm

On Friday night Kern County Sheriff's Gang Street Enforcement Unit deputies with the assistance from the Kern County Sheriff's Gang Investigations Unit detectives, located Jose Lemos, 35, near Lincoln Street and Gage Street in Bakersfield.

Officials said Lemos had an active felony warrant for his arrest for violation of the terms of his Post Release Community Supervision. 

Lemons was seen with a firearm and contacted by deputies. 

Lemos took off on a bicycle, but was captured after a short pursuit. 

A loaded handgun was located after Lemos thre it into the backyard of a residence. 

Lemos was arrested for numerous criminal violations including: Street gang member in possession of a concealed firearm, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Possession of ammunition by a felon, Participation in a criminal street gang, Under the influence of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm, Resisting arrest, Possession of narcotics paraphernalia, PRCS felony warrant, and Destruction of evidence.

Lemos was booked into the Sheriff's Central Receiving Facility.
