UPDATE (April 10, 2023): According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Miguel Montalvo Ramirez was shot and killed on Friday night, April 7, 2023, in the 7900 block of Wharton Avenue in Lamont. No additional information is available at this time.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office is opening a homicide investigation after finding a body in a neighborhood in Lamont late Friday.
KCSO said deputies responded to a report of shots fired around 10 p.m. in a neighborhood on Wharton Avenue. When they arrived they found the body of a man who appeared to be a victim of what they called a "violent assault."
The sheriff's office couldn't share more as the investigation is ongoing.
