UPDATE (11:20 a.m.): The man, wanted for the kidnapping of a 2-year-old boy in Oildale has been arrested, according to KCSO.
Jace Pletcher was found safe around 11 a.m. in the 800 block of Roberts Lane. The child is being taken to the hospital to be checked by medical staff, officials said.
Pletcher was kidnapped Wednesday evening from his home by 37-year-old Eric Truman, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said. He was last seen carrying the boy in the 100 block of Regal Street in Oildale at 6:30 p.m.
According to Pletcher's sister, Truman is a long time friend of the father and not related to him as KCSO had previously reported.
Truman is a known transient, and KCSO had searched areas he has been known to frequent including abandoned homes and homeless encampments, officials said.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Kern County Sheriff's Office is searching for a child missing under suspicious circumstances in area of S. Regal St and Rainbow Ct. in Oildale. Officials said 2-year-old Jace Pletcher was last seen wearing maroon sweatshirt and pants.
KCSO said Jace was taken from the residence by a known man, Eric Truman, 37, just before 7 p.m. Wednesday. Truman is described as white, approximately 6'0'', 170 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Truman was last seen wearing a black hat, black shirt and blue jeans.
Truman was last seen northbound on foot on S. Regal St.
KCSO said no one should attempt to stop or detain Truman, but if you see him or know where he is, you're asked to call 911 immediately or 661-861-3110.
