The Kern County Superintendent of Schools Christine Lizardi Frazier announced her retirement Tuesday during the Kern County Board of Education meeting.

Her retirement is effective February 1, 2017.

Donald Cowan, the Kern County Board of Education, announced he will recommend the appointment of Dr. Mary C. Barlow, Associate Superintendent, to the role until next election in 2018.
