It’s that time of year again! Who is the top educator in Kern County?

54 teachers have been nominated for the annual Kern County Teacher of the Year awards, which will be handed out this evening at an awards reception.

All nominees will be recognized with plaques, and two will be honored as Kern County Teachers of the Year.

Both winners, and one alternate, will represent Kern County in the California Teacher of the Year competition later this year.

The awards reception will be held at the Bakersfield Museum of Art at 4:30 pm.

The California Teacher of the Year program is sponsored by the California Department of Education and highlights educational innovation, student learning and the rewards of teaching, as well as attracting public attention to the positive aspects of the California educational system.
