The latest unemployment numbers in Kern County show another rise in claims.
County Administrative Officer Ryan Alsop tweeted more than 11,300 claims were filed in Kern County the week of July 18th. That's an increase of more than 300 from the week before.
In June the local unemployment rate was 17.5-percent, slightly down from May 2020.
One year ago the rate was 8-percent.
11,355 new UI Claims were filed in #KernCounty between 7/11/20 and 7/18/20. 11,042 were filed between 7/4/20 and 7/11/20.
