Tis' the season for giving and the Kern Dance Alliance is doing just that.

“We are embarking upon a new campaign called the 12 Days Of Giving," said Kern Dance Alliance president Andrea Hansen.

Hansen said the nonprofit wanted to keep the holiday spirit alive despite the pandemic, all while helping their dancers.

“We know that, you know, lots of dancers, lots of artists, and really almost everybody, we’re just looking for a little hope this holiday season, so Kern Dance Alliance is hoping to spread a little cheer," said Hansen.

The 12 Days Of Giving launched on December 1 but you still have a week’s worth of chances to enter the giveaways. On each of the twelve days of giving, there are different gifts you can try to win. All the items aim to keep Kern County motivated, ranging from portable ballet bars to Hydroflasks.

“We just want to give gifts of hope for twelve days, inspiring our community to stay active, stay engaged. We are all in this time together and we just want to support Kern County," said Hansen.

While it’s free to enter the giveaways, donations are being accepted and will directly benefit the programs Kern Dance Alliance provides for young dancers.

“It’s really kind of a give and a get campaign. So we’re giving to our community who has been so gracious to support us these past five years," said Hansen. "But on the flip side of this, for those that maybe can give a little more this holiday season, Kern Dance Alliance is looking to raise $12,000 in twelve days."

Each day’s gifts will be posted on the Kern Dance Alliance Instagram and Facebook pages. To enter, simply comment your name. If you aren’t on social media, just email info@kerndance.org with your name and the prize you want to win.

Hansen said she hopes the campaign has this impact.

“Truly inspiring them to have a love for the arts and see that dance can really impact a life beyond the stage," she said.

Winners will be announced after the twelve days of giving during the week of December 13.
