Posted
and last updated

The Kern County Sheriff's Office will be updating the Kern River death toll sign later this month after 15 people died in the river in 2017.

The 15 lives lost ties an all-time record set in 1985. On May 25 at 10 a.m., the sign on Highway 178 at the mouth of the Kern Canyon will be updated to include those deaths.

The Kern County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Unit will be on hand to answer questions and provide advice regarding river safety.
