A death toll sign at the mouth of the Kern Canyon will stay up, despite concerns from people who live in the Kern River Valley, officials said Thursday.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office said they will continue to update the number of drownings; the latest annual count will be updated in the near future, according to KCSO spokesperson Ray Pruitt.
Members of the Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce told 23ABC News in May that they have been concerned about the sign for years, suggesting that it sends the wrong message.
