The proposed fare structure, which is set to go before the Kern board of supervisors in June would feature just one general fare and one reduced fare for each route.

A Kern transit manager says the current fare system is confusing for passengers because some routes have up to 12 different fares.

Reduced fares would also be available on all routes.

The public hearing for the proposal will be held on June 7th.               

Kern transit will be offering free transportation to the hearing.
