Firefighters rescued an unexpected victim from a fire on Eye Street and 3rd Street in Central Bakersfield Wednesday night.
A firefighter rescued a kitten from inside the burning building and brought it to a paramedic who was on medical standby for the incident.
Paramedic Kevin Callaghan treated the feral cat. The cat is now fully recovered, in good condition, and no longer homeless.
No one was injured in the fire. The fire is under investigation.
