BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — According to the Janet Wheeler of the Thomas Roads Improvement Program, lane closures have been planned for northbound 99 so that workers can set up concrete barriers.

Nighttime lane closures have been scheduled for northbound State Route 99 between State Route 58 and Ming Avenue on Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4. The lane closures are expected to be in place between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., each night.

The contractor will be setting temporary concrete barrier rail along the inside and outside northbound lanes. Only one lane will be closed at a time and all three lanes will be open to traffic in time for the morning commute.

Drivers should consider alternate routes. The city of Bakersfield also asks drivers to slow down and pay attention to construction workers.
