BAKERSFIELD, CA. (KERO) — The Bakersfield Police Department said one man is dead following a shooting in East Bakersfield Friday evening.
According to police, just before 5 p.m. officers responded to the parking lot of the Foods Co. near Haley St. & Height St. for an assault.
When officers arrived they found a 21-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene and have taken over the investigation.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office at later time.
