This is now the second weekend in a row that law enforcement has seen quite a bit of street racing activity in the city of Bakersfield, as well as in outlying areas of Kern County.

The California Highway Patrol for Bakersfield says they received 21 calls reporting illegal street racing. The Bakersfield Police Department saying they received 36 reports of the illegal racing, and of these calls happening just this past weekend.

Prior to Covid-19 CHP tells 23ABC that they had a task force that specifically dealt with street racing cases. They hope to re-start that task force as soon as possible, but in the meantime they urge the public to call 911 if street racing activity is happening.
