TEHACHAPI — Local law enforcement agencies are asking the community to help them get unwanted and unneeded prescription drugs off the street.

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both the Tehachapi Police Department and Bakersfield Police Department will accept the prescription drugs. TPD will host their drug take back event at their police station, while BPD will host two events, one at their police station on Truxtun Avenue, the other at Kaiser Permanente on Stockdale Highway.

Tehachapi community engagement specialist, Key Budge, said it’s safe for someone to turn in their unwanted, unneeded drugs to them so they can dispose of them properly. He said flushing the drugs down the toilet will contaminate our local water source.

Budge said they will accept any drugs during the take back. And you can drop off the prescription drugs without questions ask.
