BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Around 50 layoffs are planned for the Nestle Research and Development Center, located on 7301 District Boulevard in Bakersfield, according to a WARN letter sent to the Kern County Board of Supervisors.

According to the WARN letter, the facility is not closing but reorganizing resulting in the layoffs.

The layoffs are scheduled to go into effect on May 15. They are expected to be permanent, according to the WARN letter.

The affected employees have been notified and are not represented by a union. The WARN letter said there will not be any bumping rights for those employees.
