BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Four more Bakersfield businesses notified the county Tuesday of their intentions to layoff workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those include:

  • Club Demonstrations Services at 4900 Panama Lane and 3800 Rosedale Highway - outlining that as of April 4 the business will begin layoffs and will continue indefinitely
  • Three Way Chevrolet and Three Way Chevrolet Cadillac - outlining they will layoff 50 or more employees effective during a 30 day period
  • Western Dental at 4401 Ming Ave., 1201 24th St., 3401 Coffee Road, 4409 Ming Ave. and 730 Woollomes Ave., - outlining the temporary furlough of employees effective March 31 through April 5
  • BJ's Restaurant - outlining the layoffs of employees effective March 27

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act helps ensure advance notice in cases of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs.

The U.S. Department of Labor has compliance assistance materials to help workers and employers understand their rights and responsibilities under the provisions of WARN.
