BAKERFIELD, Calif. — The League of Dreams invited the community out to help them celebrate some new renovations.

The "Revamp the Park" project hosted by the League of Dreams, North of the River, and Leadership Bakersfield Team Four has been working on renovations for the Fruitvale Norris Park for nearly five months.

On Sunday, the League announced the park had been updated. Volunteers widened the dugouts and walking paths to make them more accessible for athletes with wheelchairs and walkers to get onto the field safety.

"After several of hoping and wishing that someone would take on this project, it's bigger and better than I anticipated the dug-outs are gorgeous," said Executive Director, Jessica Mathews. "The athletes can utilize them all season long. Baseball is a Bakersfield sports."

Volunteers also painted parts of the park, replaced weathered gear and updates the benches and fences.
