A local high school swimmer is back home more than three weeks after an accident broke both her legs.
On March 20th, just one day after being the maid of honor in her sister's wedding, Libby Otten and six other family members were in a jeep accident. The jeep stalled going up a hill and started to roll back. Libby was thrown out of the vehicle and her lower body was run over breaking both her legs and fracturing her pelvis in seven different places.
The Otten’s say the community's support has been overwhelming. One friend started a “We Love Libby” Facebook page that has over a thousand followers and another friend made shirts that say #LibbyStrong.
Libby's road to recovery will not be easy. She will have to wait at least six weeks before she can put any weight on her legs, forcing her to be in a wheelchair, but she's staying positive.
Libby says she plans on attending her end of the year activities, including graduation. If you want to follow Libby’s recovery search “We Love Libby” on Facebook.
The family has also set up a GoFundMe page to help with the medical expenses. To make a donation click here: https://www.gofundme.com/t9xedy24
