Blessings Corner Ministries is helping local families with their back-to-school shopping. Their event will take place Friday, July 27th, at Union Avenue and 1st Street in Central Bakersfield from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

During their back-to-school event, Blessing Corner Ministries will be giving out free backpacks filled with school supplies, shoes and clothing. They will also be offering free haircuts, food and entertainment including a bouncy house. Supplies are first come first serve, so you're encouraged to get there early.

Bakersfield Fire Department also plans to be at the event to give children a chance to get up close and explore fire fighting equipment.
