UPDATE (3:50 p.m.) : Assemblyman Vince Fong issued the following statement:

“Words cannot describe how heartbroken I am about the tragedy in Las Vegas, Nevada. Numerous Kern County residents were in attendance at the Route 91 concert and our community has experienced loss in this senseless tragedy. This act of evil has no place in our society and amongst our families. I hope everyone will join me in sending prayers and support to those who lost their loved ones, to those who are recovering, to those who were in attendance, and to local law enforcement and first responders.

In the wake of the deadly massacre in Las Vegas, where more than 50 people were killed and more than 400 were injured, Kern County Congressmen are responding.

On Monday morning, both Kevin McCarthy and David Valadao tweeted in response to that shooting.

On Twitter, McCarthy said, "Such a senseless tragedy in Las Vegas. This horrific act has our nation praying for the victims and their families. May God bless us all."

Valadao also took to Twitter, saying, "Praying for every victim affected by this horrific tragedy in Las Vegas and their loved ones."
