This summer the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District is making sure kids don't go hungry.
Eight schools across Bakersfield will be serving a mid-day meal Monday through Friday.
It's free of charge for kids from June 4 until June 29.
District officials told 23ABC you do not have to live in the district to receive a free lunch. The district's goal is making sure no kids go hungry.
Officials say adults will not be served unless they purchase a meal for $4.00.
Lunch will be served through the weekday from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
