The price to fill up your gas tank could cost you more this weekend as prices are expected to go up across the state and experts say those prices won't come back down for a while.
Bakersfield drivers said they're already noticing the steady increase of gas prices in town.
Consumer Watchdog released a report today saying prices are expected to increase by about 37 cents.
Today in Los Angeles drivers lined up at places like Costco to full up before the prices get higher. While some drivers are upset with the increase, most around town say they welcome the higher prices.
The low prices in recent months have meant hundreds of layoffs in town for those working in the oil fields and drivers say they don't mind paying more at the pump if means those workers can head back to work.
But getting those jobs back might not be the case with this increase, Consumer Watchdog says the higher prices this weekend are due to the fact that oil refiners are transitioning to their summer blend of gasoline.
This latest increase put California prices even further away from the national average of $1.71 per gallon.
