BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Last year, Leilani Munson hosted a dog show for her ninth birthday to help bring awareness to dogs in-need of fur-ever homes. This year she wanted to do the same, but because of the coronavirus she couldn't.
So instead, Leilani is asking for community members to walk their pets in front of her home in a pet parade to celebrate her turning 10.
From 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, anyone can bring their pet and walk down Wind Blossom Avenue, off of Verdugo Lane, and wish a happy birthday to Leilani.
Leilani and here family are asking people to practice social distancing during this parade.
Last year Leilani's pet show helped to raise donations to local organizations looking to help foster and adopt pets. Leilani's mother Dana said that once it is safe to do so, they will host another pet show just like last year!
