BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — It's peak cookie selling season for millions of girl scouts around the country, but one 7-year-old here in Bakersfield is pressing play on a new approach to her business.

Millie Clowes is no rookie to selling cookies.

“I say would you like to buy some girl scout cookies? We take credit cards and Venmo!” Millie said.

But this year she is trying something new. She is getting in front of the camera and up on her own Youtube channel.

“Daddy is the director and mom is my assistant,” Millie explained.

On her channel, Millie taste tests cookies and even suggests milk pairings to go along with each different flavor.

“First we are going to start with the banana milk,” she said in a video. “With the banana milk it tastes like banana bread.”

Millie's mom Kat Clowes says she wanted her daughter to get home out of cookie season this year.

“This year instead of relying on mom and dad to help her sell cookies we wanted to teach her a little bit more about marketing,” said Clowes.

Along with her own Youtube channel, Millie's parents have helped her set up a Venmo account, order business cards, and a set up a google voice number to text phone and voice orders.

“The foundation of the entire cookie program is that the girls learn business skills, money skills, and to be entrepreneurs,” said Clowes.

Plus, Millie plans to give back with her cookie business. She's hoping to donate about a thousand boxes to U.S. troops.

“Yes you can meet your sales goal, but how about we match it with a giving goal,” said Clowes.

Girl scout cookies are on sale until March 15. You can call or text Millie at 661-750-2251 to order cookies.
