Two local groups bring the rivalry of the dark and the light side of Star Wars to life here in Kern County. The Bakersfield Astromech Droids build full-size, realistic R2D2 droids. The 501st Legion create movie-quality costumes of characters from the dark side. 

They embrace the rivalry between the good and bad, but know to put that rivalry aside when they attend various events around town.
