The UFW Foundation and other local organizations are calling on U.S. Rep. David Valadao, who has already vowed to vote for the DREAM Act, to take the next step.
On Tuesday at 4 p.m. immigration advocates will gather outside his office in Bakersfield to ask him to sign onto the discharge petition to ensure that it isn't stalled and is voted on as is.
They also want him to encourage his counterparts to do the same.
"We know if you sign the discharge petition, you can vote on the DREAM Act. Our community will check daily with the Clerk of the House for the names of members of the Congress who signed this official petition allowing a vote on the DREAM Act. We hope to find your signature," the UFW Foundation said in a statement.
