Students young and old are working towards getting their high school diplomas through the program known as FIELD.

The students work during the day and attend classes at night. The classes are provided through the Farmworker Institute of Education and Leadership Development, know as FIELD. Cesar Chavez founded the institute in 1978.

The students said the president’s immigration policies scare them, but they take pride in getting their education. They said they want to stay informed and provide a better life for their families.

The students said their teacher has been a calming voice, reminding them that education will empower them beyond politics or policies.

The program also offers English classes for those who need to learn the language.
