Local law enforcement to participate in Torch Run to support Special Olympics

Local law enforcement will be participating in the Final Leg Torch Run for the Special Olympics on Thursday, May 30.

The run will begin at Mercy Hospital in Downtown Bakersfield all the way to the Liberty Bell on Truxtun Avenue.

The Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and fundraiser with more than 3,500 officers in Southern California participating.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is represented in all 50 U.S. states and with 97,000 officers around the world, raising more than half a billion dollars since its inception in 1981.

The run will begin at 9 a.m. on May 30.

The second run was held on Thursday in Delano at the Delano Police Department.

On Friday, May 31st, the run continues in Arvin at 5:30 a.m., Cal City at 9 a.m. and end in Ridgecrest at 4 p.m.
